The firewall or anti-virus can cause a large variety of issues, including blocking the player from connecting completely. For this reason, we suggest adding Glyph and RIFT to your Firewall/Antivirus by following the steps below:
- Open Windows Firewall (Press Windows Key + S and enter “Windows Firewall”).
- Click on "Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall".
- Click on "Allow another program... ".
- Click on Browse.
- Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Glyph.
- Select GlyphClient application and click Ok.
- Select Add and this application will be added to the Allowed Programs list.
Repeated steps 3-7 for the below programs for the game(s) you want to play. By default, located at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Glyph\Games\
Search for “RIFT.exe” or “RIFTpatchpts.exe” and add these files as an exception for any anti-virus or personal firewall you may have. This process might differ, depending on the software you are using.
If you are using third party firewall software such as Norton Internet Security or ZoneAlarm, you will need to add the same files listed above to the list of allowed programs of the third-party firewall software as well. You should be able to find instructions on how to do this through the Support site of the software. The Support sites for the most popular security products are listed below:
Be aware that the proper instructions for doing this may vary, depending on the version of the firewall software you are using. Therefore, make sure to follow the instructions for proper version of your firewall software.
Your router needs to be configured for RIFT, which requires TCP 6520-6550. The instructions on how to open these ports can be found in the router's documentation. Please follow the instructions in your router's documentation or on the manufacturer's Support site to update the firmware.
