Why are my items different colors in my inventory?

Item icons are displayed with different colors to indicate the items rarity.

The following is the item rarity color scale used in RIFT:

  • Grey - Items are the lowest quality. They have no stats and only use is to sell to Merchants.
  • Yellow - Specialty item, such as a Quest item, that has no inherent power or level and no stat boosts.
  • White - Common items that have a use of some sort. These items can range from Collection items, to Tradeskill materials, to basic NPC vendor equipment/weaponry.
  • Green - Uncommon items with a slightly higher rarity. These items can also range from Collection items, to Tradeskill materials, to slightly more beneficial pieces of equipment/weaponry. These items can be either found on enemy corpses, traded between players, or purchased on the player auction house.
  • Blue - Rare items that have a lower drop rate than the items in lower tiers. These items can also range from Collection items, to Tradeskill materials, to significantly more beneficial pieces of equipment/weaponry. These items can be either found on enemy corpses, traded between players, or purchased on the player Auction House, but are much more difficult to find.
  • Purple - Epic items that have an extremely low drop rate. These items can also range from Collection items, to Tradeskill materials, to extremely more beneficial pieces of equipment/weaponry. These items can be either found on enemy corpses (usually Boss monsters), traded between players, or purchased on the player Auction House, but are very difficult to find.
  • Orange - Relic items that you will be hard pressed to find in the game world! These items can also range from rare Collection items, to the highest end Tradeskill materials, to some of the best pieces of equipment/weaponry. These items are shrouded in mystery and only the bravest and battle-hardened adventurers dare to search for these items of lore.
