Overheating issues are often characterized by specific symptoms, such as the system crashing to a black screen, rebooting, or powering off. They can also cause less drastic symptoms such as seeing white spots, rainbow patterns, or other graphical anomalies while playing the game. While these issues do not exclusively indicate an overheating issue, such an issue will almost always display symptoms that match the ones listed above.
There are a number of troubleshooting steps that should be taken when trying to pinpoint an overheating issue. Before taking any other troubleshooting steps, please see the Knowledge Base article "General Glyph Troubleshooting" for a list of troubleshooting steps to follow before pinpointing your issue as being related to overheating.
You should also follow the rest of the advice provided in our "Resolving Video and Graphics Issues" Knowledge Base articles, as these suggestions can also apply to stability issues with the game client or your system.
Beyond what is listed in the above Knowledge Base articles, you may also need to update your system's motherboard or chipset drivers in order to resolve this issue. If you need further information on where to obtain these drivers as well as the proper way to install them, you may need to contact your system or motherboard manufacturer for assistance with installation.
Finally, you will need to check your system itself for any temperature issues that may arise during play. It is best to make sure that your system's case has been cleaned of any excess dust, especially any that may have accumulated on the fans inside of the case. The fans are located on top of the processor, video card, and in your system's power supply. If you are using a laptop, make sure that the air vents on the system are unobstructed by dust or any objects while you are using it. If you are able to, try removing the side panel of the case to blow air into the system with a fan.
If these troubleshooting steps do indicate an overheating issue, then you may need to contact your system manufacturer for a permanent solution.
