Any crafting materials collected go to a separate tab in the inventory and can be stacked in large quantities. If you right click any crafting materials in your adventure inventory or chests, they will be moved into your crafting inventory.
You can locate this tab in the inventory section, by pressing B (Default). You will find your crafting items in the tab with the Flux icon.
